Spots! Sparkles! Amal Clooney’s Venice Film Festival Fashion Is Party-Ready

Amal Clooney is at the height of her fashion powers in the summer: Pucci sets, vintage Versace mini-dresses, gala-ready Galliano gowns. Fringe, prints, color upon color: Clooney keeps things fun without compromising on polish. At this year’s Venice Film Festival, the lawyer and humanitarian is making sure she gets the most out of her summer wardrobe. It all kicked off for the opening ceremony evening, where her husband George Clooney was receiving the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.

The couple, who have been married for 12 years, kept things classic, both opting for black and glamorous coordinating style. Amal chose a body-contouring and razor pleated black Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann gown with silk taffeta and leather details, the brand’s Vertigo pumps, and a matching clutch. Alongside George, she walked the red carpet for the premiere of Danny Boyle’s Ink.

So far, so chic. On the second evening of the festival, Amal amped things up: spotted heading toward a party, she wore an aqua minidress by Caroline’s Couture, featuring heart motifs, sequins, and lurex fringes. She accessorized with shimmering diamond chandelier-style earrings and a silver clutch bag. Glam was kept signature, her skin radiant, blush warm, and eyes bronzed, with her caramel highlighted hair swept in brushed out curls over her shoulder.

Today (September 4), the Clooneys continued to rule

Today (September 4), the Clooneys continued to rule the Venice canals, sailing toward ‘The Future Of… Creativity’ event at Scuola Grande della Misericordia. It’s a symposium that brings together industry leaders to discuss creativity in an “an era of technological change.” Speakers, including George Clooney, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Alexandre Desplat, will discuss “authorship, originality, and the protection of human creativity.” (It’s a topic George has proved passionate about, having mentioned the threat of artificial intelligence on the creative industries in his speech when receiving his award.)
Amal wore an artful design by Stella McCartney: a raspberry spot-printed chiffon dress with a softly ruched silhouette and fluid column shape.

She wore cream mules and accessorized with brown oversized oval sunglasses, gold drop earrings, and a metallic accented cream bag with a silver link chain handle. If we’re to look back through the years, Clooney has had plenty of sartorial successes in the floating city. Last year, she was a vision in magenta at the Jay Kelly premiere, wearing a vintage taffeta confection with an almost campy train by Jean-Louis Scherre.

Her go-to, though, always ends up with Versace—from 2024’s corseted and ruffled gown to the lilac dress she wore in 2017 shortly after the birth of the couple’s twins. And after seeing Nicole Kidman’s Pieter Mulier for Versace debut earlier this week, we can only hope to see more of the designer’s vision on Amal in the coming days. Of course, there’s over a week left of Venice, and plenty more time for Amal Clooney to keep turning fun these looks on the lido.

Andiamo!
